The kids and I made a quick trip to Chicago last week to see Nan and Papa and the L*cousins while mommy had a photoshoot. We had a nice visit and C* and M* especially enjoyed their time together(I think they spent the entire time playing Planet Heroes- which is now one of C*'s favorite toys!). I think that S* was a little disappointed in his Aunt D* because I wouldn't let him have my phone....but hopefully he'll forgive me!

My little boy is FOUR!
So I have had my eye on the Hello, Cupcake cookbook for some time and my FABULOUS mother-in-law surprised me with it! I was so excited to let C* pick out a cupcake design wondering if he would choose the alligator, the sharks, the puppies......but no.....what does he choose?! The Slumber Party and he wanted the scared little boy reading the ghost book:) You can see that I (with my husband's help as I was having a hard time rolling out the airhead blankets) made one for each one of our family members.....C* and I both have red hair....well orange but you get the idea while B* and K* both have brown hair. These were really easy to make but a little time consuming!

We had a pretty lazy day of sleeping in, opening gifts, eating doughnuts, going to Toys-R-Us (to spend birthday money), and then heading to Chilis for dinner. With every gift C* opened he kept asking if it was going to be a Planet Heroes toy and unfortunately it wasn't.....he had a dress-up themed birthday which consisted of a fireman, swat team, star wars clone trooper, transformer bumblebee, and army guy costumes as well as a ds game; but lucky for him he had birthday money that he used to buy a few Planet Heroes toys as well as the Imaginext batman plane. If only my session in Chicago had been a little sooner I would have known that he wanted Planet Heroes toys....but we didn't go to his cousin's house until Friday and with his birthday being Saturday we had already finished shopping:) Anyway- we ended the day with cupcakes just before piling on the air mattresses on the family room floor for our sleepover. C* had had a nap so he was up late watching the Bee Movie but the rest of us started to doze mid-way through:)

Happy Fourth of July!

It rained almost the entire day on the Fourth.....but we didn't let that keep us from having a good day! The original plan was to go downtown and enjoy some of the festivities on the canal before the show but due to the weather we decided it was a better idea to stay closer to home in case the fireworks would be canceled. We went to our friends' house, had a nice dinner, played some games, and then when the rain finally let up we headed into Noblesville to see the fireworks! It drizzled a little while waiting for the fireworks to begin but that didn't stop the kids from having fun with sparklers....and what's funny is that B* brought a defective lighter so the kids had to borrow a flame from a stranger and then constantly relight another sparkler before the first went out.....who would have guessed that between four kids we could go through all FIFTEEN boxes (each containing 10 sparklers) in such a short time! They had a lot of fun- so that's all that matters!
I think we've made it!
So I think (I write as I knock on wood) that C* has finally crossed over from a toddler to a "big" boy! He has been clean and dry since July 1, 2009! We are talking no accidents and no "you need to go try" from mommy and daddy! And to top it off.....he went #1 and #2- with NO accidents- while the kids and I were in Illinois for my mom's birthday! B* and I are so proud of him for taking such a huge step......it's hard to believe that after almost a year of potty-training and 6 months of not pooping on the potty we are finally here! I took a few snaps of C* enjoying his big boy gift.....a Bumblebee transformer DS with the Ghostbusters game!
